Secretary-General's Address
Secretary Generals
Dear Delegates,
It is with immense pride that we welcome you to X-MUN 2026, a conference where diplomacy is both an art and, on occasion, a carefully choreographed performance of controlled chaos. In a world that grows louder by the day, Model United Nations offers something rare. It offers the discipline to listen, the courage to disagree, and the wisdom to recognise that the most powerful voices are often the most measured ones. Here, within these committees, global crises will be dissected, alliances will be forged and broken over the span of hours, and solutions will emerge that are as ambitious as they are improbable.
As Rabindranath Tagore once envisioned, a world “where the mind is without fear and the head is held high” is not built through silence or submission, but through thoughtful discourse and the relentless pursuit of understanding. In many ways, this conference is a small but spirited attempt to bring that vision to life, though perhaps with slightly more lobbying and significantly less poetry.
To every delegate, we extend both a challenge and an invitation. Challenge assumptions, including your own. Defend your positions with rigour, but never at the expense of reason. And above all, remember that diplomacy is not about winning arguments, but about shaping outcomes. We look forward to witnessing the ideas you will champion, the crises you will navigate, and the occasional procedural meltdown that, while unplanned, adds a certain charm to the proceedings. Welcome to X-MUN 2026.
Till June,
Aditya Aluni and Animikh Chatterjee,
Secretary Generals,
