St. Xavier's Collegiate School

In November 1843, a fire broke out at the Sans Soucci Theatre - No. 10 Park Street, Kolkata. This accident forever altered the history of both Park Street as well as the City of Joy - Kolkata. St. Xavier’s Collegiate School is an epitome of what one might call Fate’s Pheonix. The very same fire which once devastated the the Sans Soucci Theatre set a ablaze a towering Inferno in the hearts of every Xaverian who would since pass through these hallowed portals. This vivacious ‘Fire of Education’ has transformed St. Xavier’s Collegiate School into a relic of Jesuit Education in India. On 16th January, 1860, Father Henri Depelchin along with a small group of Belgian Jesuits heralded the entrance of life into these historic grounds at 30, Mother Teresa Sarani which from time immemorial has given its utmost into transforming the youth of India into humans for others. After 165 years since its inception, St. Xavier’s Collegiate School remains an enduring source of education, values, institutionalised rationale and inspiration for all. As an internationally recognized and esteemed institution, it continues to reach new heights of excellence. Here, at 30, Mother Teresa Sarani, we strive to reach for excellence in the fields of academia, extracurricular and sports, and above all, to ameliorate life for the generations to come.
